Introduction

I decided to start this blog to supplement a genealogy web page that I am currently constructing. My original intent was to call it something like "Genealogical Musings." I thought that it would be a great place to post some of my ongoing research questions and deliberations on the web and perhaps find some new Internet Cousins who would engage in some online collaboration. However, much as that thought intrigued me, I decided that I might also like to comment on the variety of interests that I have, not just genealogy. Hence the title, In my free time... to encompass all of these pursuits and where I hope to reflect on them. These issues would include the above mentioned genealogy research, focusing on my Dittus, Wiegmann, Hooper and Sheridan family lines; library technology trends - I am an IT librarian, over 50, with no formal IT training, and struggling to remain current; my love of travel and realizing my long term goal of getting to all 50 states - currently 42 and counting; and my darling granddaughter - I need say no more, I can't say enough good things about her.
